What to do in Port Dickson

A small and sleepy town of Port Dickson relies on the tourism industry that centered around its white sandy beaches and pristine clear waters. Located about 34 kilometers from Seremban city centre and approximately 90 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur city centre, families and vacationers often flock into Port Dickson during the weekends as it is easily accessible via North-South Expressway.

Port Dickson the coastal Army Town

Formerly known as ‘Tanjong’ (it means cape), Port Dickson today is one of the top tourist attractions in Peninsular Malaysia that offers luxury resorts, bungalows and apartments with panoramic ocean view and extensive activities available for leisure seekers.

In 2009, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak officially announced Port Dickson as an Army Town for it houses plenty of training centres and army camps. Vacationers, leisure seekers, families and business travelers can indulge in lots of exciting activities available here namely golfing, jungle trekking, fishing, wind surfing, jet skiing, canoeing and bird watching.

Golfing by the seaside

Port Dickson Golf & Country Club is a tastefully landscaped 18-hole golf course, officially launched on September 26, 1992 by The King DYMM Yang DiPertuan Agong Sultan Azlan Shah.

Golf enthusiasts can sign-up to become members of the golf course to enjoy lower rates from time to time. In addition to that, vacationers can walk-in to PD Golf & Country Club seven days a week but it charges slightly higher rates. This is a perfect place for business travelers to entertain their guests as you can book any of the golfing packages offered.

Water sports aplenty

For those who are adventurous enough to try exciting water sports, do not worry as there are tons of water sports operators located nearby the shoreline. If you happen to be around Teluk Kemang, water sports enthusiasts can rent canoe, jet skies or banana boats from the operators. You’ll be mesmerized with the blue dotted skies, crystal blue water and sounds of seagulls chirping while enjoying the sports with your loved ones.

Fishing in Lukut

Meanwhile, adults who prefer to go fishing, drop by Lukut. This is a hotspot for fishing fanatics as you can find stingrays and queen fish in the tranquil waters. During weekdays, locals will usually spend time casting a line in the waters particularly in the evenings.

Events at PD Town Square

Port Dickson Town Square is a must visit venue especially during the weekends as this renowned square host a number of beach resort’s ceremonial activities in the past including the much celebrated PD Festival and New Year countdown party.

One-stop center for tourists

First-timers can find out more information about the town from Tourist Information Office located here in the square. Families with kids are encouraged to visit the town square as food and drink vendors can be found here. Besides that, children can enjoy horse or miniature 4 wheel-drive rides. Remember to take a picture of your kids riding the horse.
