Unknown to many, the OCBC Building in Kuala Lumpur is quite a heritage treasure as it has been around for decades which even houses an underground bicycle parking facility.

Heritage building in the city

Located right at the heart of the city centre, the OCBC Building was the former headquarters of the Overseas Chinese Banking Corporation which has been around since the late 1930s where it is still fully operational and functional to present day.

Background of OCBC Building

For anyone who appreciates culture, heritage and architecture, the OCBC building is a perfect choice to go to as it exudes everything about these elements. Designed in Art Deco Style by AO Coltman, the OCBC Building forms the square that encircles around Dataran Merdeka that includes the Sultan Abdul Samad Building and Central Market, among others.

Clock Tower in the city

It is here that the very popular Clock tower enacted in 1937 to commemorate the coronation of King George VI is located. That which makes the OCBC Building so unique is that it is among the pre-war buildings which are still very well preserved here. As such, taking the historical trail around the Kuala Lumpur city center will surely give the visitor a truly rewarding experience where you will be able to notice the similarities of the various heritage buildings here.
