Perak is one of the states in the Peninsular Malaysia where its capital is Ipoh and Kuala Kangsar being the Royal capital. It has a land size of 21,035 km2 and an estimated population of about 2.2 million people. Perak is situated towards the northern part of the peninsular where it is the second largest state. It borders with Kedah towards the north as well as with Thailand’s Yala Province. Towards the northwest is Penang while is joint with Kelantan and Pahang over at the east. Selangor is located on the south of Perak while it has its coastline facing the Straits of Malacca towards the west.
Kampar town is one of the major districts in the state of Perak. It is one of the oldest towns in the state and is situated within the Kinta Valley, previously known for to be rich in tin. Geographically, the tow is divided between the ‘old’ and ‘new’ areas that covers a land area of 39,000 hectares. It is situated towards the southern part of the state where it Gopeng is at the north, Tapah towards the south east while Pasir Salak is at the west.
The town of Manjung is one of the major districts in Perak which has a land size of 1,168 km2. It is located around the south-west region of the state and is known for its coastal areas which connects to Pulau Pangkor which is one of the major tourist destinations in Malaysia. It is also home to the Lumut Naval base of the Royal Malaysian navy. Its principal urban center here is Bandar Seri Manjung while it is also home to Lumut Town which is located towards the west that ferries passengers to Pangkor Island.
One of the administrative districts of the state of Perak, Hilir is one of the major towns in the state. It is made up of flat lands primarily with the Perak River flowing through the town. It has a population of around 200,000 and where there are other townships here that include Bagan Datoh, Hutan Melintang and Langkap.
Kerian is one of the major towns in Perak which is known for its rice produce. With a population of about 180,000 people, Parit Buntar is the major town in this district. It is located towards the northern part of Perak where it is very near to the border connecting to the other northern state of Penang and Kedah. The Sungai Kerian flows through the district here where it also has other major towns like Kuala Kurau, Bagan Serai, Tanjung Piandang and Kamula Sarji.
Kuala Kangsar is one of the major towns in the state or Perak with a land area of 204.94 km2. It is known as the royal town of the state and is located towards the Kangsar River’s downstream that leads out to the larger Perak River. It is situated around the western bank of the Perak River where it is known very much for its cultural heritage. Sungai Siput is located towards the east of the town while towards the south is Ipoh city.
Ipoh is the state capital of the state of Perak which has a total land size of 643 km2 and an estimated population of slightly more than 1 million people. It is located about 200 km towards the north of Malaysia’s capital of Kuala Lumpur. It is one of the main cities of the country located in the middle of the state. As it is the main administrative center of the state, this is where the transportation hub resides. Ipoh basically connects other towns and cities around the state and country where Gopeng is around the south and Kuala Kangsar towards the north
Pangkor Island is one of the major tourist destinations in Malaysia and in the state of Perak. It is connected by ferry services through the town of Lumut. Located around the north-west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, it is naturally a small island with only about 8 square kilometres of land space. There are an estimated population of about 25,000 people known for being involved with fishing and agricultural industries.
Known to be one of the oldest towns in the country, Taiping has a land size of 186.46 km2 and an estimated population of about 200,000 people.
